Summerbridge Parent-Teacher Association

Welcome to the Summerbridge PTA!  The PTA exists to benefit the children in our school and encourage involvement with the local community.  We organize a variety of social events throughout the year for children to enjoy, as well as raise money to enhance opportunities and facilities for our students.

Every parent in school is automatically a member of the PTA.  We encourage everyone to get involved!  It is a great way to meet new people, take an active part in your child’s time at school, and help to make a difference.

We meet once a month, please see the noticeboard for the next date and information.  The meetings are friendly and participation from all is welcomed.  If you are interested in coming along to the next meeting, speak to any of the members, school administrative assistant Janet Williams, or just turn up.  The meetings usually start at 2pm and run until pick-up time.  Tea and coffee are always on offer!  Feel free to bring along younger children, just like some of the current members do – they are more than welcome!  We understand that not all parents can attend regular meetings but we always appreciate extra help at events.  We need fresh ideas and willing hands!

Elections for key positions are held at the beginning of each school year.  The appointments for the current academic year are as follows:

Chair:  Seyhan Burrow

Vice Chair: Laura Binns

Treasurer: Sarah-Jayne Metcalfe

Secretary: Bobby Massey

There is a notice board outside the school that highlights the next meeting date, as well as pertinent information for upcoming events.  Be sure to check out our PTA newsletter, issued at the end of each term.

The funds that we raise are put to great use.  Each year an amount is set aside to cover transportation costs for educational visits and to subsidizing swimming transportation for all the pupils.  In addition. Other items which the PTA have paid for include a special commemorative coin to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, seating and equipment for the playground, new kit for the school’s sports teams and t-shirts for the Young Voices concert.  We are always eager for parental input on how to allocate the funds we raise!

Some of our annual events include Bingo nights, Bags2School, A Halloween themed event, a Christmas event and a Spring disco, but we are always looking for new ideas!
